The shooter “inhumanely” used a blow dart gun to shoot several deer, killing one of them, near Speedwell Avenue and Max Drive in Morris Township between 12:15 a.m. and 12:30 a.m. on Tuesday, August 22, local police said in a Friday release.

The dead deer, as well as several of the “razor-sharp” metal darts, were left behind and could have easily harmed another person, the department added.

Meanwhile, several deer were found in the area with the darts still hanging from their bodies.

The suspect vehicle is believed to be a gray or silver sedan, possibly a Subaru Legacy. Police also believe the shooter or shooters took photographs with the blow-dart gun before its illegal use.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Morris Township Detective Bureau at (973) 326-7480.
